The nearest airport is in San Jose, which is about 40 minutes from Santa Cruz. If you don’t plan on renting a car, arrangements can be made to pick you up at the airport. Try to schedule your flight to avoid rush-hour traffic. Driving times to avoid: between 3 and 6 p.m. going from San Jose to Santa Cruz; between 6 and 9 a.m. going from Santa Cruz to San Jose.

Another option is the San Francisco Airport. Being 1.5 hours away though, this will only work if you plan to rent a car.
